Security
Security across the complete journey
Security is not one camera at the gate. It is what happens at each of the eight hand-overs between your door and our racks and back — and what is written down at every one of them.
- CCTV
- Access control
- Fire safety
- Pest management
- Environmental conditions
- Handling procedures
- Inventory identification
- Transport security
Note: These are the StorageWale operating standards. The equipment and arrangements actually in place at the facility in your city are confirmed in the facility fact sheet that comes with your written quote.
Stage 1
Pickup
Security starts at your door: who turns up, what they record, and what you sign.
- Handling procedures: Uniformed StorageWale crew with IDs; society or building permissions arranged in advance so only expected people arrive.
- Inventory identification: Every item photographed at pickup, including existing marks, and tagged before it leaves your premises.
- Documentation: A pickup receipt listing every tag, signed by you and the crew lead.
Stage 2
Handling
Most damage in storage happens in the first hour. Preparation is done by material, not by habit.
- Handling procedures: Furniture disassembled with hardware bagged; doorway and stairwell protection; carried, not dragged.
- Environmental conditions: Breathable wraps for wood and upholstery, anti-static for electronics, corner guards and vertical boxing for glass and stone.
- Sealing: Cartons and archive boxes sealed with tamper-evident tape before loading.
Stage 3
Transport
Closed vehicles, direct routes, no intermediate stops with your goods on board.
- Transport security: Closed-body vehicles only; goods secured with straps and padding; no open trucks.
- Transport security: Direct trip from your premises to the facility; the crew that loads is the crew that unloads.
Stage 4
Receiving
Nothing goes onto a rack until it has been checked against what was picked up.
- Inventory identification: Tags counted against the pickup receipt (or your packing list for direct deliveries); discrepancies flagged the same day.
- Pest management: Inbound items inspected for pests or damp before they enter the storage floor.
Stage 5
Storage
The facility layer: the systems that run whether or not anyone is looking.
- CCTV: Cameras at entry points, aisles and loading bays with retained footage.
- Access control: Storage floor restricted to authorised StorageWale staff; customers do not walk the floor.
- Fire safety: Fire detection and extinguishing equipment, clear aisles, and no flammables accepted into storage.
- Pest management: Scheduled pest control by a contracted provider.
- Environmental conditions: Ambient, dry and ventilated storage; items racked or palletised off the floor and away from walls.
- Monthly checks: A monthly walk-through of stored goods; anything unusual is photographed and reported to the customer.
Stage 6
Inventory
A unique tag, a photo and a location for every item — the record that makes everything else auditable.
- Inventory identification: Unique StorageWale tag per item or carton, with your own reference (asset, SKU or box label) alongside.
- Inventory identification: Inventory sheet maintained by the team and updated on every receipt and dispatch; shared with you as a document.
Stage 7
Retrieval
Only the right person can ask, and every request is logged.
- Access control: Requests accepted only from the account holder or contacts authorised in writing, verified against the registered phone number.
- Handling procedures: Items picked against the request and checked against their pickup photos before dispatch.
Stage 8
Return
The last hand-over is documented like the first.
- Transport security: Closed vehicle, direct delivery to the address given by the account holder.
- Documentation: Signed delivery note; condition checked against the pickup photo with you present; inventory sheet updated.
What security does not mean
No storage provider can promise zero risk, and we will not. Here is how we think about it.
- We reduce risk at every stage and document condition so that if something does go wrong, it is visible and resolvable — not argued about.
- Insurance options and cover limits are stated on your written quote.
- If an item is damaged, you raise it at delivery against the pickup photo; the storage agreement sets out the claims process and limits.
- A facility fact sheet listing the measures in place in your city is available with your quote.
Not accepted into storage
For the safety of your goods, our staff and everyone else’s items in the facility.
Perishable food, live plants or animals, flammables and gas cylinders, hazardous chemicals, cash, jewellery and precious metals, weapons, and anything illegal. Two-wheelers must arrive with a near-empty tank.

Security questions
+What happens if something is damaged?
Raise it at delivery against the pickup photo. Insurance options and cover limits are stated on your written quote. The storage agreement sets out the claims process.
+Who can request my items?
Only the account holder or contacts you authorise in writing. Retrieval requests are verified against the registered phone number before dispatch.
+Is the facility climate-controlled?
Storage is ambient, dry and ventilated, suitable for furniture, appliances, cartons and documents. Ask us before storing items that need a controlled temperature.
+How safe is my property with you?
No storage provider can honestly promise zero risk, and we do not. What we can show is what we do to reduce it at every stage — documented condition, packing by material, controlled access, CCTV, fire and pest systems, monthly checks — and what happens if something still goes wrong.
+Can I get a facility fact sheet?
Yes — request it when you ask for a quote. It lists the security, fire, pest-control and inspection arrangements for the facility in your city.
